Steve "Big Daddy" Orta

Steve Orta lists his hometown as Bath, Michigan, but he and his wife, April, are currently living in Dimondale, Michigan. Steve has been working for General Motors since 1997 and while not working, he will be spending his time racing the #32 Pure Stock.

Be sure to check out Big Daddy's own website.

Steve Orta was born on September 19, 1974 and after growing up, he married his way in to become a member of a larger racing family from the Michigan area, the Gokees.

His wife, April, is the daughter of Rick Gokee, Sr.

"I started out working at Spartan Speedway in the early 90's on the track crew with the Lewie and Tony Sova. My passion for racing soon took off. In 1994 my family and I built our first Street Stock, a 1972 Chevy Nova. I raced at Spartan and Owosso Speedways for 3 years. With limited funds and little help, I managed to get numerous 2nd and 3rd places in heats and top 10's in features."

"In 2006, I was offered the chance to drive again from my father in law, Richard Gokee Sr. at the Palo Corn Harvest for 1 race and that fueled my fire once again."

"This season I plan on running a full season at Spartan Speedway and Springport Motor Speedway in the Pure Stock Division in the Gokee Racing #32 Cutlass."

"I want to show my appreciation to my crew, H.B. Pratt, Rick Gokee Sr., April Orta, and Jamie Gokee. And many thanks to the entire Gokee family, Pops, Jamie, Dan, Rick Jr., Jim and also to Jon Kibby, as well as Deb & Ron DeRosa. Thank you all!"
