I would agree that tracks are struggling and that they need to make changes to help them out. K-Zoo is combining the SLM and LLM and running them on the Hoosier 970 tire and bringing in the mods. That is a big change at a track everyone thinks is successful. I have no problem with that. The biggest thing that needs to change is the image and reputation that Jim and Bill have. By reading some of these posts you can see what people think of them, it is not good. After reading Bill's post on MSTRC I see that he has not changed. Here is his post - "After reading the hate mail on the Spartan website, I would guess that Spartan will be for sale. It's location makes it more profitable to sell as commercial property than to run as a race track. For all those haters of Jim Leasure, let me give you a suggestion......you all have such wonderful and profitable ideas on how to run a race track, get your check book out and buy it. Solves all your problems along with Paul and Jim's." With posts like that, does he really think he is helping the situation? Now I know how I can come off at times, especially over the Internet (talking face to face is much better then typing), but I don't own or help run a business like this. There are way to many other options for people to go do and spend their money on. If the race director acts like this then why would someone want to spend their money at the place. I want to see Spartan succeed as I have going there since June of 1969 (I was born in May of 1969) and my family has been going since the mid 1960's. My dad raced there from 1967 - 1991. I will admit that I don't know what I'm going to do next year.

All SLM drivers!! We need to get together and talk about next year with Jim and Paul.

As of right now there is no formal meeting date set. As I get information I will pass it on to you. I have phone numbers and/or email contacts for most of you, but some I have no way to contact.

Please get ahold of me so we can try to find a date that works for Jim, Paul and the majority of the drivers. You can send me a PM or respond to this post with contact information.

Let's work together to keep Spartan and the SLM division alive!

Thanks guys!

Kazoo's LLM and SLM were pretty much the same cars the last few years. The majority of the top LLM were tube chassis anyway. A few top 06 SLM were 5" spring cars and the best car the last month of racing (#46 Sensiba) had steel heads. The main beef down there is adding another 100#, the class was 2600# only a few years ago. Still it becomes the sole track in the area running 970's which will protect its own. What do you guys think the latemodel counts would be if 4-5 West-Cental Michigan tracks all ran the same tire?

I think it would soar myself.

A lot of guys from Spartan and the east side will not go to K-Zoo or Berlin even if they where running the same tire. Traveling in the SLM isn't what it used to be.

What would happen if Springport ran SLM every week on a good 10" slick with a good payout ($1000 - 1200 to win with $250 - 300 to start and a tire impound rule)? Do you think they would pull cars from K-Zoo, Berlin and Owosso? What about the Angola cars? Where are all the SLM that used to run there?

russrace, I work on Phil Massuch's team so I am familiar with K-Zoo.

Queenbee and everyone else for that matter,

I am sorry for some of the things I said in my post, I didn't really think before I posted it. I thought about it after words and this is the first time I’ve been able to get on here and correct myself. I had all the comments on this website as well as all the ones i've personally heard since Big Ed's post going through my head. I've heard so many people say "I am not coming back if Jim and Bill are" and I was just imagining what the track is going to end up like without all those fans and drivers. Believe me I am part of the Spartan family and I always will be no matter what happens. I have come to the conclusion that maybe we should keep our mouths closed and our comments to ourselves until after the rule meetings and until we know what’s going to happen in the 2007 season. Also when I asked the question about Jim and Bill I didn't mean to cause all this controversy I just wanted an answer. I'm here if you need any help with the track, just let me know. And Pauly I all hope you feel better. Wink

I think we are in a period of treaded tires until the promoters fiqure out how to make money on the latemodels. Berlin has always been it's own "animal" but I think many would venture to Kazoo and M40 if they were on the same tire. You can't ignore M40's $30,000 to win, many will be running there more than once to get dialed in.

Hey Missy! Don't feel bad because of the things that have been said on here. You did not start anything girl! People would have made their way to the discussion board even if you wouldn't have posted something on here.

like or hated the changes, not racing hurts everyone. i just found a team to work with for 2007 so i can learn racing, but even before that i thought the track was like family. i don't want see anyone leave, familys have troubles. the strongest ones are the ones that make through them .
