Testing of New / Old Car Complete; 19-year-old Chad Finley ready for Owosso Speedway

DeWitt, Michigan (Thursday, September 1st, 2011): After crashing extremely hard at Winchester Speedway in Winchester, Indiana back on August 20th, which resulted in a destroyed racecar, the Chad Finley Racing Team immediately went to work on rebuilding the car that was wrecked in the Winchester 100 Presented by JEGS.com. After countless hours and many sleepless nights, the car is back together.

The big test came at an open test session at the next track on the inaugural 2011 JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by GM Performance Parts, the historic Owosso Speedway in Ovid, Michigan, located just 20 minutes from the CFR race shop in DeWitt, Michigan. The fast 3/8s (0.375) mile high-banked paved oval hosted a Wednesday night test and tune on August 31st and the Finley crew was one of the first teams to pull their hauler into the pits for the extended Practice.

“The first thing I need to do is thank Brian Warnaar, Chuck Hoffmeyer, Steve Moore, Jimmy D. Smith, Skyller Drews, and my Dad for all their help in getting this car back together.” The appreciative 19-year-old stated. “They all put in tons of hours for this car to even get it to the track yesterday. Brian and Chuck especially! We all worked really hard and I just hope they get the recognition that they deserve.”

“I’ve also got to sincerely thank Chas Howe at Howe Racing Enterprises up in Beaverton and his staff as well. We got the car up there the Monday after Winchester and got it back the very next afternoon!” He continued. “I also have to thank my fans and friends for all the emails and donations to make this happen.” He added.

As for the test in preparation for the Big “O” Classic 100 Presented by JEGS.com this Saturday, September 3rd, the team went right to work on the #42 Ford Fusion; “We got it done in time to make the test at Owosso yesterday. We were decent but we’re missing a little something. The last run we made, that change seem to help the most all day. We will get it back in the shop and go through the entire car again before Saturday.”

The DeWitt, Michigan driver then ended: “I feel we need a tenth and half and these guys will find it. It’s been a rough week to 10 days on us all. Last night though, we were all home by 10:00p.m., and got some much needed rest. We’ll keep digging and we’ll be alright for Saturday. It’s the closest race on the schedule to a home track for us and we’ll do our best to make our fans proud of us.” Finley ended.

Heading into the Owosso event, Finley is sixth in the season long points chase, but only 13 points out of third as Brandon Watson, Josh Nelms, Brent Downey, and Finley are all lumped together (601-594-589-588). In addition and due to the carnage of the race at Winchester, the points spread is even closer behind Finley as Claude Plante Jr., and Rookie Cody Coughlin are on the heels of Finley (576-569). Just 32 points separate third through eighth.
