| The Midwest and Michigan Short Track Racing lost a legend as Joy Fair passed away suddenly Saturday morning while enjoying his regular breakfast with his buddies. Joy was a legend not only in Michigan but also in the entire midwest as the driver of the school bus yellow #1. Joy took numerous championships at the Flat Rock and Mt. Clemens Race Tracks. Joy also won many features at Spartan Speedway in his super modified and late model. Funeral arrangements are not available at this time. |

My first memories of Joy Fair were from Spartan. It was 1964 I believe, my first time at Spartan. Joy was there with his little Falcon with the headers coming up through the hood. I was really neat to watch that car as he accelerated down the straights with fire coming from those headers. I have been a fan of his ever since. He was truely one of the biggest legends of short track racing. He will be missed.
