I am sorry to report that long time friend of Spartan Speedway, Fern Newman passed early this morning. Fern epitomized what racing was in "the day" as well as "today" is all about, which is commitment.

Fern was a fixture at Spartan Speedway, she never missed a race at Spartan until a couple of years ago and then it was only one. She missed another one last season so I can report that since Spartan opened in 1956 Fern Newman attended approximaltely 1,100 race events.

Myself as well as the entire Spartan Speedway staff sends our condolences to the Newman family.

Thank you Jim. Spartan will never be the same without her. Will let everyone know about the arraignments as soon as they are made
