I'm with KT. Does everyone enjoy that big burger? Bigger is not always better. A smaller, higher quality burger just might boost sales. Team it up with a helping of fries and you've got a burger basket. Serve a smaller, higher quality hotdog (maybe Koegel's) also teamed with a helping of fries. Voila...a hotdog basket! Plain popcorn chicken served with Frank's hot sauce on the side (the little containers are already on hand since they serve ranch and honey mustard) allows those with "delicate" digestive systems to dine on race track fare. Corndogs would be a great addition (these can be baked), maybe even some mozzarella cheese sticks w/ marinara dipping sauce. For those of us who resolved to slim down, how about a grilled chicken breast sandwich. Just a couple of these changes might encourage more fans to grab something at the concession stand instead of buying something at Wendy's or McDonalds and bringing it in. Just my two cents since I'm in the stands every Friday. Last year, every Saturday at Springport, and one Sunday a month at Spartan. |

In 2003, I had a hamburger at the concession stand just about every Friday night. They were very good and they were a decent size.
In 2004, the burgers got even bigger. I could still eat one, but I think they are too big for many people. The track is likely missing out on some repeat sales. I haven't had very many of these bigger burgers, they just don't taste as good as the 2003 burgers.
I vote for the return of the 2003 Spartan Speedway hamburger.
Personally, I like the big hot dogs. I'm usually in a hurry and eating one hot dog while not having to carry around the second hot dog is an advantage. But then again, some people would prefer a smaller hot dog.
Michelle might be right about something. A smaller burger or smaller hot dog might encourage the sale of an order of fries as well. Not only on the first visit, but on subsequent visits as well.
