4 cyls = 8 Cyls for 250 laps

Well our team had a great 250 lap enduro race saturday at Flat Rock Speedway!

We had 3 cars racing.

The #11, 1975 Monte Carlo, 350 V8, 4 barrel carb, cast iron manifolds, dual exhaust Driven by Kyle Mendepennigen.

the #1, 1984 Cutlass 350 V8, 4 barrel carb, cast iron manifolds, dual exhaust Driven by brother Rayce Mendepennigen.

The #4 1995, FWD 4 cylinder Dodge Neon, 2.0 L SOHC, auto trans driver by the father Jeff Mendepennigen.

For the about the first 100 laps, the Dodge Neon was ahead and as fast as the #11 V8 car!

the V8 cars use Hoosier sportsman tires, the Neon was on 195 65 14 street tires ( falkens).

After 250 laps of green flag racing,,,the 11 car finished 2and and the Neon finished 9th!

IMHO the neon could have finished 3rd or 4th, but it started running hot after 100 laps and jeff had to ease up to keep the neon cool.

The NEON was actually faster in the turns and the straights than many of the V8 cars.

Befor the race i wrote on the back,,, " I coulda HAD a V8!""

also, the NOEN is much cheaper to build and race than the v8 cars.

Our Neon is a B main car at Spartan.

So YES, FWD Neon and Pure stock type V8 stock cars Can run together,,,

This is now flat rock version of the TV show " are you faster than a Redneck?" that pits tuner cars against american muscle cars.

The Neons tires were 5 race old Falkens, and after the 250 race the rears are not worn at all, the RF is done and the LF is OK.

I am guesing we used about 4 to 6 gallons of BP premium pump gas. I will measure it and let you know for sure.

the V8s used 13 to 15 gallons of gas., and they were on racing tires.

The Neon has a $200 junk yard engine, the V8s are rebuilt.
