Sorry to say it, but NASCAR is slowly dying due to that POS COT.

Ladies and gentlemen....Bill France has micromanaged the Nextel Cup series right into the ground. Like Congress, when can they ever say, "there...we have enough rules and regulations that nothing else needs to be done". The IROC series died for a reason. It was boring. Yeah..it was racing, but it was boring.

You hear so much hype of trying to make the sport safer but even thats a joke. Since no one will have a clear advantage on the track, the racing has now come to the pit lane...albeit at a lightening fast 55 MPH speed. How boring and yet dangerous can that be!! Why don't they just put a 3/8 holed restrictor plate requirement limiting the speed to 85mph on all the tracks and move the pit boxes curbside to the track! Would just about be the same.

I will have to say I'll watch the rest of the "normal" car races this year and sadly pass up renewing my seat at MIS in 2008.

Live long and prosper Spartan and Springport Speedways. At least you know when to leave well enough alone.

i think racing is do good because the race is back. before theres was more crashing than racing, i thought that was boring. races where half of the race is under caution just plan suck. when there no crashes at track that famous for wreckfeast nascar is getting better. side be side finishes and hardly again cautions, that just d&%$ good racing to me.

I feel that to an extent you are correct. But you also have to consider that with new cars means testing time. Just wait until all the teams get a handle on that COT. It's gonna get interesting. About the speed on pit row and not being interesting. Have you ever been running with a 60lb jack in your hand and bounce of the hood of a stock car. Seems dangerous to me. I'll always choose safety over speed.

I think you guys missed my point by a litte. What I was saying is that because the cars are going to be so similiar in handling, fuel milage, and passability, that no one will have a clear advantage on the track.

What it will do is cause the racing to be more on pit road with the pit crews deciding who wins or looses. I know that it has always been that way, but it seemed to be, at least in the old days, that if you had a great handling car, you could make up track positions, even if your pit crew screwed up. In the old days, winning a race was 30% crew/70% driver. Now, I think it's going to be 50/50.

I believe that your going to see more "close calls" between drivers and other pit crews for the plain fact that the cars want to get in their pitbox and out as fast as possible. It will be the only "easy" way to gain track positions with out having to really race.

BTW - they should change the name to remove the "stock car" part of it since it has evolved completely out of some thing that you or I would even call stock. How about COTCAR or POSCAR. If I had the money I would lease the tracks and make the cars HAVE to be something of the production line (like the old days).

i pretty much quit watchen NASCAR because its all about corprate America now. There is nothing left in the race. And tomorrow, if you wanna watch the allstar race, you have to have the speed channel. What kinda B.S is that? Like I said before, if i was in charge of it, we would go back to the roots of NASCAR and make it about the drivers ability to manhandle a very powerful piece of equiptment that doesnt want to do what you are making it do. I would throw in some half mile dirt tracks, late model races, outlaws, and some vintage stockcar races(cars from the 60s and 70s) and many other events to the schedule. Then we would se who tge real drivers are and who the strokers are. thats my vision for NASCAR.

I think Nascar is just trying to excercise the skills of the drivers rather than letting the cars do the driving. If drivers were able put whatever they wanted on their cars, there would be no excitement in the sport at all. The only thing I don't agree with in Nascar is the new Car of Tommorow. It looks to much like a tuner car.
