Amber,

Don't get discouraged if nobody is able to help provide garage space. Most of the teams here do not have extra space available.

Your Dad should try to find a friend or family member who might have an empty garage stall to borrow. I think that would be a better way to go.

In fact, you might be surprised to find out that some of the race teams don't have the luxury of being able to store and work on their race car in a garage. Some of them work on their car outside.

So, don't let the inability of being able to find a garage to work in be the thing that keeps this from happening. Also, be sure to think about other things such as how to get the car to and from the track. You'll need a tow vehicle and a trailer. And you'll need a place to keep the tow vehicle and trailer during the week.

if we have a close in hauler we can keep it where we live. he would not have problem work outside in someone back yard if he could a yard in which to work in.

Amber,
An enclosed trailer is something that most hobby racers cannot afford. You need to watch the news paper for garage space to rent or maybe get a hold of Patrick and see if he can give your family a car to race. His lease a car deal is quite affordable and he leaves the cars at the track so towing them is not an issue. Since Patrick maintains the cars there would be no need for your dad to secure space to work on a car. He might set up a monthly payment plan so that by summer next year the lease would be paid.

When my dad first started racing 38 years ago, he worked on his racecars right in the yard or driveway, with no covering, and just layed on the ground. So it can be done. He did it for years. Of course it isn't ideal, but hey, if ya gotta do it ya gotta do it.

we are allow to do any car auto work in the trailer park or we would kicked out. they won't even let change the brake pads on my car. he doesn't have problem working out side just has no where what so ever to work on car. when it comes down to race or being homeless, have a home sounds more important.
