10th Annual Bounce City
New Year's Day Bash
Tuesday, January 1, 2008
Anderson Speedway is kicking off their 2008 season with a special event on New Year's Day. One of the classes running is their front wheel drive division. Some of our Pony Stocks would be legal by their rules and some might not. But they are also running a front wheel drive "Open" division race. So, our Pony Stocks that wouldn't fit their regular rules would still be able to run the open event.
The Mini Cups are also racing at this event, and Tim Phillips, driver of the #8 that raced at Springport in 2007, has invited me to ride along with him and drive one of his cars. He bought a Dodge body and installed it on one of his chassis' just for me to drive at this event.
They are also running Street Stocks and Thunder Cars. Some of our Pure Stocks could run either class and some of our Sportsmans could run in the Street Stock class.
Pit gate opens at 10:30AM and racing starts at 1PM. Anderson Speedway is about a 1/2 hour north of Indianapolis. It's a 1/4 mile high banked track.

Yeah!! I found a place I can race.... I have to weigh more than a Sherman Tank, but oh well!!
Adding and taking away weight for certain cars. Must work for them we should try it?? _________________ Go Fast...Turn Left...Repeat!!

You guys can still race on New Years day, just go to Sandusky Speedway in Sandusky, OH. http://www.sanduskyspeedway.com/ They race rain or shine, and your Pony Stock and V6 FWD Pure Stocks would be legal in their Whiskey Stock class. The last time I went (2 years ago) they divided them into 2 classes, 4cyl stick and v6 auto ran together, and 4 cyl auto were a seperate race of their own, I don't know if they're doing that this year or not.
The last 3 years (I believe) Ron Miller, builder of Proven Chassis dirt late models has won the Champagne Stock class with his dirt late model running outlaw style sideboards. Great racing, I'm plannin' on drivin' over there tomorrow.
WHISKEY STOCK:
15 LAPS
ANY AMERICAN MADE FRONT WHEEL DRIVE 4 OR 6 CYLINDER
MANUAL TRANS 4 CYL. ARE ALLOWED
NO MANUAL TRANS 6 CYL. ALLOWED
ALL FOUR TIRES MUST BE THE SAME SIZE _________________ Check out my website at: |

Yes, it was slippery, but it was turn 3 for me. I lost it going into 3, but when the car dropped down to the apron, it straightened itself out in the correct direction, so I pulled back onto the track and continued on. They were very hesitant about throwing any yellow flags. It was green all the way.
The weather wasn't too bad at all. It got to about 40-43, but with no sunshine and those temps, the track never dried off all afternoon. I would have been very fast if the track was dry, but it was way too loose for the damp surface. Tim's car was very tight and that was the hot setup. I didn't have anything for him.
It's too bad none of our Pony Stocks went down there. There was something like 26 cars in the FWD Open feature. Most of our teams could have outran them, I felt.
Most of our RWD Pure Stocks could have done well also.
Racing ended at about 4PM and we were back at Tim's shop near Kalamazoo by 8PM. Some of you guys should have went.
