Is there any interest in having a "live" chatroom opened up for a few hours in the evening once or twice a week? If there is enough interest, I'll get one started on the spartanspeedway.com site.

What I'm thinking is having the chatroom open on a particular evening every week, something like Tuesday nights from 9PM until midnight. We could discuss in "real time" various topics such as the upcoming season, rule changes, technical discussions on building our cars, or just simply keeping in touch throughout the winter months.

I'm putting the chatroom through a test run today if anyone would like to come and help test it or just come and have a chat with other Spartan Speedway race fans, drivers, and crewmembers.

The chatroom will be open until about 5PM today. Come and try it out so I can see if any changes need to be made.

Well, I ran the chatroom for about 5 1/2 hours today and it ran quite well. So, it will go live on Tuesday evening from 8PM until Midnight.

If anyone who signed up today had any problems getting into the chatroom, let me know and I'll try and help you.

Are the rules meeting going to be finalized in person after the online discussion? Or are we just going to have on line discussions and leave it at that? Just wondering because some persons may not have a computer.

Hi Jerry,

The purpose of the rules discussions is just that, a discussion. It's not an official decision making meeting. I'm going to save all the ideas that are discussed and submit it to Gary, Paul, and the other tech officials. This way, we'll all have a general idea of what the racers are looking for ahead of time and will be better prepared for the "official" meeting.

Think of this as a "pre-meeting". It's a very good opportunity for everyone to get their ideas heard and to hear other's ideas. Let's all make it work.

For the past month, I've been trying to log onto the chatroom and when i log in, it goes back to the login screen and tells me that I haven't been active for more than 30 mins. and I've been booted off. Can you help??

Hi Ian,

I think I might know what your problem is. It's a problem with the chat robot known as "pitgirl". We activated her last night to see if she was still working and I also tried to shut her down but couldn't. I think because you were talkiing to her on your last successful visit that she won't shut down until you reenter and tell her "bye".

However, you can't get in to do that. Obviously there's a bug in the chat software. So, I'm going to somehow manually deactivate her connection to you and that might clear things up.

Give it another try next Tuesday.

I was having this same problem last night. I only had about 10 seconds instead of 30 minutes before getting booted. I overcame it by placing a quick one word post the instant I entered the room. That seemed to reset things, and then I had the 30 minute window to remain inactive. Next week if it does it to you again post something quickly when you get in the room (do it as quick as possible) and you should be all set.
