After some discussion with some other drivers, we have decided we wanted to do something a little extra for the Heeney family.

We are starting a Memorial Fund to raise money to have a tree transplanted into the Heeneys yard.

I have made many phone calls and am getting great support for this Memorial. We have yet to make the correct connections with a bank, but plan to have an address were contributions can be sent.

That info will be posted as soon as it is available.

I spoke with Bill this afternoon while at the funeral home. Bill says the idea of a tree as a memorial in Brians name is a nice idea.

When he first heard of this, I hear he went right outside and looked for the spot they would want the tree.

We are not talking about a small potted tree, but one that will be moved from a nursery, with a tree spade.

If we can get 20.00 from race teams we will be able to accomplish the goal we have in mind. So far there has been close to 500.00 pledged, but it will take more than that for what we would like.

I spoke with Stephanie LaPratt today who works at Dart Bank in Mason. She is going to help get an account setup that can be used for this Memorial Fund.

You can send Stepanie your donations as soon as the info is posted, or send me a check made out to the Brian Heeney Memorial Fund.

So far there have been over 35 members of the Spartan / Springport family want to get involved, plus some others who are just plain big hearted.

We will post a list of those who are helping out latter this week.

I know Earl Miles has been in contact with Gee Farms on the selection of the tree.

Some have sent in their contribution to Dart bank, which we will have a record of, as long as they used a check.

Thank You! to all who are helping out! We have passed the 1200.00 mark with more donations still coming in.

Well we did get the tree planted and put landscaping blocks and stones around the tree this morning. The tree came from Gee Farms and they gave a us discount to help with their part of the donation.

This was done with the help of Perry Davenport, Arron Stenger, Earl Miles and one of his employees, sorry I don't have his name. My sister-in-law Lori Loughan came ond took pictures and will be posting them here soon.

This turned out real nice and Billy is very appreciative of all who have helped to make this possible.

I also spoke with Dan Hienz, Clints dad last night and they plan to put some accent lighting on the tree, plus they are also going to bring a large stone in to put by the tree. The stone will end up with a plaque on it made by one of Dan & Billy's friends from the area that has a machine shop and can CNC the plaque.

I have also updated the donation list that is the previuos post.

Here is the list of those who were at the banquet and made donations to the memorial fund.

A special thanks goes out to Doug Finley and the whole Finley Racing Team as Doug donated his SLM points fund check, which was 500.00

Patrick Plumbing, Harold Patrick has also donated his points fund check, plus enough extra to sponsor Fast Time with 100.00 and the Hardcharger award for 100.00.

Home Town Finacial, from Stockbridge has asked to be the sponsor for the race and details will be posted when we work them out.

Keith Thompson will also sponsor the leader on lap 34 for this race and the Charlie Ryan Jr. memorial race, with 25.00, in honor of his dad, Mert Thompson, whose car number was 34.

All totaled the Spartan/Springport racing family donated 1165.00 on the night of the banquet.

We have not settled on a format ofr this race, but will post all the details.

Well, here we go, as one of the Spartan Speedway and MSTRC Family member is stepping up to help this be one of the best races ever.

I will let Madd Mikes PM to me say it all.

I have $50 for the person outside of the invert who passes the most cars. A hard charger award so-to-speak for those in the back... to try and encourage some passing from back there.

I have an additional $100 bonus for the winner if he comes from outside of the invert.

I have $200 if the winner comes from the back row.

Hopefully I'll only be giving out $50...lol. But I'd like to see someone get the $100, and the $200. SO... if the winner comes from the back row, they will get the whole $350.

Which ever way it goes. I will pay the money.
