CRC Racing visited K-Zoo on Saturday Night and took home a checkered flag in K-Zoo's Cyber Stock Division.
Brian Jenks driving the #9 Dodge Intrepid who started shotgun on the field assumed the lead on lap #11 of the 15 lap feature and came home first in the field of 16 cars.
The Victory wasn't without some controversy.. on Lap #12 there was a Yellow Flag with the #9 leading the race. Due to a transponder error on lap #8 (it didn't register), the scoring tower moved Brian to the 8th spot, first car one lap down.
Brian finished the race 6th on the unofficial scoreboard.
Team CRC headed up to the tower immediately on conclusion of the race, reviewed the scoring with officials at K-Zoo speedway who acknowledged the scoring error and awarded Brian the victory.
I like to commend the way Gary Howe and the folks at K-Zoo handled the situation.. they were very professional, pulled up the computerized scoring system and the video replay system they have in the tower.. upon reviewing the scoring and the video, they acknowledged the mistake, Gary reached into his own pocket and paid Brian the winners share.
That's right, K-Zoo speedway paid out for two first place winners, rather then have anybody (even a visitor) leave unsatisfied with the results of the night.
Patrick McNamara started the race 16th and worked his way up to 7th before retiring with an over heating problem on Lap 10.
We spoke to all 14 of the other drivers and extended invitations to them to come to Springport for opening night (an off night on their schedule). |
