Bo, there's no reason to allow the DOHC engine at this point in time since the SOHC cars are so plentiful. If someone runs a DOHC engine and blows it up, it's not very easy to find a replacement engine as it is the SOHC engine.
Why would you be wondering this?
I would prefer looking at several other car models to include in the rules provided we can make them restricted enough to not hurt the cars that are already racing.
With the years moving along and our current crop of Pony Stock models getting harder to find, it might be time to look at some newer models to allow. But we would need to be very careful in the selection.
Dodge Shadows and 2.5 engines are getting harder and harder to come by. So, the Neon can fill that void. Chevy Cavaliers are still quite common and not too hard to find. Dodge Daytonas will eventually be a collectors item. Ford Escorts and Tempos can still be had, but they have not proven to be very competitive. We need to come up with a different Ford that someone can utilize.
We might also have to look at a few selective imports to allow.

| Is it a different engine block from DOHC to SOHC?, I know obviously the head but is the block different, and if not will you have to get a new wire harness for a SOHC engine? So basicaly i have a DOHC 2.0 neon and since we can't run that kind i'm just wonering how hard it will be to change over. |

It would be easier and cheaper to obtain a Neon with a SOHC engine already in it. Otherwise, you'll probably have to buy one for parts and do the conversion.
The DOHC Neon is worth more money if left on the street and built into a hot street car.
But you can do what you want with my advice, it's your money.

Bo, why did you start working on a car with an engine that isn't allowed?
I don't think you should have much trouble finding a parts car with a good engine and any other parts you might need.

There are always thoughts of it. However, nobody should build a car with the assumption that it will be allowed.
