A protest rule works like this.
If you think someone is cheating you write down what you think they are doing and give this written "protest" with a $25 fee to the tech inspector. The inspector then techs the car for the written infraction. If the car is illegal you get your $25 back, if the car is legal that driver gets the $25. This stops the inspector from being barraged by whiners. The tech inspectors still inspect the top 3-5 finishers and make any other inspections deemed needed. They just don't spend there time chasing frivolous complaints from whiners.
I think we need this rule.
Comments please.

I think this could be a very good rule to use. It saves the Tech Inspector alot of time and grief of running around because of what he said he said crap. If someone has a complaint, have the balls to show it was you who whinned and complained about it!!!

of course then the next complaint (when the accused driver is found to be legal) will be that the tech inspector is buddies with the accused driver and "overlooked" the infraction and the the tech inspector and accused driver split the 25 bucks between themselves.

The bottom line is that some racers are whiners by nature and they will always find something to be whining about.

just playing devil's advocate here, folks. I actually do like the idea of having to put your money where your mouth is if you want to protest.

The adjustment I would suggest is that the money (if not given back to the accusor when the accused is found guilty) goes into the season points fund. This eliminates the tech from having any hidden agenda because there would be nothing to gain monetarily.

we don't even need to put money up to eliminate whinners. this rule is straight out of the auto city rule book,
Photobucket

if we were to adopt a rule for protest the protesters car should first be checked then you proceed to the car they wanted checked. the money isn't even required.

Im pretty sure that every car at that track isnt legal. Even if it was to fall in the written rules, they are so much of a "GREY AREA" anyway, that its left up to the tech inspector to evaluate the cars on individual basis. (Thats where the other drivers complain about favoritism.)

So I say "Cheat as much as you can. If you get caught, you didnt try hard enough". Lets go racing.

I tell you what, if an inspector is going to lie for $12.50 then the track has hired the wrong inspector.

This rule works very effectively. Many tracks utilize a rule like this.
It covers any rule infraction and by curtailing cheating the track helps to keep the cost of racing more affordable for all racers.

Yes Dennis, it is obvious how stupid that sounds. But you and I both know that someone will try to play that card if given the opportunity.

Again, I was just poking a little fun at some of the crybabies we have seen at the track (I think Dennis may know who I am referring to), but in reality it's not a bad idea
