| I have noticed that there isn't much about Big Ed anywhere. I don't know about anyone else, but I'd like to know a little more about our man behind the mic. He may just talk alot, but that can be a big job. Of all the tracks I have been to, I think Big Ed is the best, most attention getting, most fun announcer of all. So Big Ed, how about some info on yourself. What do you do for a day job? What do you do in your spare time? How do you keep yourself from going crazy in the off season? Feel free to ad more if you want. |

| Ed is a property Appraiser by day. I know that in the off season he puts his wife Linda on a pedestal and gives her pedicures on demand, does all of the cooking and cleans the dishes afterwards, waits on her hand and foot and keeps the walk way shoveled (does any of this help Ed?) |

Well, Jim got a couple things right there.
And Justin, I am flattered just a little bit that you'd even be curious, and thank you very much for those kind words, I think I may have blushed when I first read it.
Well let's see if I can give you some insight Justin.
My "DAY JOB" is a Real Estate Appraiser. I've been doing this now for 11 years, and just like announcing, I love it. I am very, very fortunate to have TWO different jobs that I love to do, I know how rare that is. Most appraisers in Michigan are self-employed, so to speak, and have to run their own business for the most part. But again, I am most fortunate to work for one of the most respected Appraiser's in the State of Michigan, Kevin Groves Appraisal Services. Him, and his two sons, hold the highest licensing for Appraiser's, and do a multitude of different real estate work. From the Multi-million dollar mansions, to the 600 square foot rat nest on the North end of Flint. to huge Apartment buildings, and any commercial business, no matter how big or small. Yep, even have appraised race tracks!!! We have contracts with Fannie Mae, and are busy when most appraiser's would sell the soul for just one job. Again, I am fortunate.
While I do hold my lovely wife Linda on a pedistool, she don't want no pedicure from me. As a matter of fact, I wouldn't call my wife a girly-girl so to speak. She is a sports nut just like me. She absolutely LOVES Football, and is our Fantasy League Super Bowl Champion this year!!! (try dealing with that one guys) Digs basketball, and needless to say, racing, not so crazy about baseball and hockey, but will watch it. No fighting over what we may watch, it is usually sports!! I do not do the cooking, or the dishes, Linda is a GREAT cook (look at my size), and wants to cook all our meals. I do do all of the laundry, she never has touched a washing machine or dryer in 20 years.
I co-host a local radio show every Wednesday night with my great friend, Larry Loynes (Auto City announcer), from 7-9 that can be heard on www.streamnetradio.com.
I am an avid bowler in the off season. I've been on the same league here in Grand Blanc for the last 18 years. Pretty much the same guys. I really do enjoy it. I'm averaging 199 right now, and have 2 weeks to get to my 200 goal, as I have the last 3 years. I only bowl one league a week. I may sub occasionally, and enjoy going to a tournament or two during the winter. I am an Eagle's member, and always bowl in the State Tournament.
I have been a fan of local auto racing all my life. My Father started taking me to Dixie and Auto City long before I can remember. I have always looked up to all drivers as my local hero's, and I always will. I met Greg Yost in 1989, and we quickly became friends, and he opened many, many doors for me in the racing industry, that I never thought I'd ever see. I was always happy being a fan, but also always thought I may be good at, and enjoy announcing. I was right about the enjoying it part, because I do. Whether I am good at it or not is a matter of opinion I guess. I don't hear many complain, except for some of the older fans about my WAVE LAP, and music sometimes. But I tell them it is my job to get everyone fired up, and that is how I choose to go about it. For every complaint I have ever had, I get 10 compliments. So until that ratio changes, or Jim says so, I'll keep DEMANDING that you get up to wave, and I will ROCK you!!!
Justin, thanks for asking. Another thing I am proud of is my reputation I have earned for giving out nicknames. I have been called the Chris Berman of local auto racing, I love that!! And Justin, YOU were one of my very first!!!! Justin "ROCK THE" Kazmar!! And you even were one of the first to write it on your car, I truly consider THAT, an honor!!!
Tell your Parents hello, and kiss that baby!!! And don't forget their anniversary, I never forget that it is always right around Harvest time!!!
