I'm not racing this year but I thought I'd post about this.
I know one thing when you are a low budget team in any class the extra money used for a radio is a big deal.
If I was racing I would be against having them. Besides the extra expense I just don't think they are necessary.
There are tracks that run just fine that don't have them too.
Just my thoughts. _________________ Just a fan for now

For me the safety of it is more of a benefit than the cost. I'll stand by what I said earlier. Make mandatory in the Supers and the mods, and have a work in period for the other divisions. They use these in the Auto Value Super Sprints. What they found is that restarts were better, starts were better, cautions took less time. Like Brian said the raceeiver is only $100, all the extras add up. But you can use just a typical earpiece. It's going to become the standard soon. And really it's a one time buy. I'm for it 100%
What does Jim think about just making it mandatory in the upper divisions? |

I think it is a great idea but it has to be widely accepted by the drivers and here is why I am thinking that:
The driver would know the troubled area immediately, there are times when speaking to all drivers at once might be a good thing (actually we should have the drivers meeting over the radios, no one can speak)(joke), but other than safety the biggest issue is the 45 minutes per night we would likely save.
Trying to realign cars after a mix up can be difficult, time consuming, frustrating and gas consuming. If you drive around waiting while the cars are trying to get in the right order and use say a half of gallon per night for 20 or 21 nights you use an additional 60.00 worth of fuel.
Also the folks in the stands would get home a little earlier, watch constant racing and enjoy the night. From the stands this would be like watching regular television (the free kind) without any commercials.
This does however need to be endorsed by something like 70% of the drivers. I am not for imposing any added expense with out putting an adequate amount of thought into an issue. |

They improve any show, bottom line.
You will within the next couple years need them if you plan on traveling to other tracks, if you ask me, get it taken care of -- it's going to happen. _________________ -Kyle Callahan

This system really needs to be implemented. There were 10 or 11 cars in SLM feature and they couldn't get lined up. Doug had to go down on the track and they still wouldn't listen or whatever. Then one of the drivers flips the bird to whoever, probably the tower, right on the frontstretch. That is great for all the fans to see, especially the kids. _________________ Keith

| I think that Raceivers would have prevented last nights accident in the Pure Stock Division and kept those 3 cars from getting totaled out. |

| i don't like the part about buying more thing. it is costing so much to race now i don't want to spend the money. i don't know why it takes so long to line everyone back up. the guys on the track know where the hell they are and who they are behind. so why not go back to your spot and stop wasting gas.and if you quit looking over you hood and look ahead a little you can see a spin and miss it most of the time. hell friday i was watching the pony race and when who ever it was that spun in turn one the other guys that hit him had a lot of time to miss him. open your eyes .i know now everyong is pissed at me oh well |

I was right behind that wreck and watched Marq get into the wreck. At the point in the track it is hard to miss a reck. You just start breaking for the turn and then a wreck happens in front of you so naturally you slam on the breaks which cause you to lock up the tires and do nothing but slide straight into it. It is very easy to lock up the tires on a Pony. You really dont have a lot of time to react. The track itself was very slick Friday. Cars that wrecked throughout the night dumped oil, dirt and who knows what else on it. The track was pretty dirty from the start. Probably all the wind and rain we had this past month coated the track pretty good. Hopefully Wednesday will go a lot better for all classes. See you then!

Ron.. I was referring to the Pure Stock event as Springport on Saturday.
And you couldn't look ahead because they sun was setting and you couldn't see a thing all the way through Turn Two. You've raced at Springport, you know the problem when it happens. The yellow came out a bit late, but even if it had come out earlier, the guys involved couldn't have seen it anyhow. But they could have heard "CAUTION - trouble in turn two" over a raceceiver and 'potentially' avoided that accident.
Well over $3000 worth of damage was done to those three cars (and maybe more like $5000.. that's 30 to 50 raceceivers bought and paid for.. I think racecievers will save individual racers more money in the long run then they cost. JMO. |

| yes i know how the sun is. everyone can do what they want but i for one don't want to spend the money and i don't think i will. the price its costing to race right now is more than a lot of people can aford. i guess what i'am saying is if i have to have one to race i'll stop racing, or go to a place where you don't have tpo have one. ron p.s. by the way i put tape on my bars at the top when i know the sun is going to be right in my eyes the 1st few laps, it helps a lot try it |

As far as speeding up the Springport show I don't see the bang for the buck!
When you have 100+ cars a night it really helps move the show along.
Getting done at midnight with nonstop racing since 7pm will make any fan feel like they got their monies worth.
However I like the idea as would give the drivers much more info and stop a lot of crap on the track. Just think Ron when you are P.O.ed at the guy you think hit you the radio will tell everyone in the race who actually did hit you! _________________ Thanks
