this is what i think of the spiner spiny rule

now i was in the stands on saturday because my motor was not ready yet.
i seen the 51 pure stock and the 77 pure stock racing in the furcher and i seen the 51 push the 77 into turn 3 and the 77 got lose and got side ways he creted the car and then got hit in the side by the 51 and the 51 spon out and they seent the 77 and 51 to the back and the 77 did nothing worg i dont get that.

yes i no it tacks any jugment call a way from the officals but its stupid a guy mining his own bennis and gets tacked out and he get punished for some one mustake.

ive raced for 8 years now and this is the way the GLSS ran the show if some one hit another driver and spins them out they go to the back no matter what and the person that got spon get his or hers spot back.

that teckes the drivers not to go run into some one. thats what the spartan and springport needs because we all no that we ant porfesinals we do this out of are pocket alot of the time and we do not have big sponsors so we pay for it if some thing happens

that is my apinyen

spelling

Marq, i think its a great rule.. saturday i had to get sent to the tail on my heat race...on the last lap..i didnt intentionally get involved with the accident i was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.. which lost me a heat race.. but hey thats racing.. but the rule helps for the drivers that bang bang bang and try to get you loose because they cant get around someone... trust me i dont really like it either.. but it helps... so drivers just have to be more careful and it tries to save on racers beating up on each others cars...

I have a couple of problems with the spinner-spinnee rule. I have always prefferred a ruling that is at the discretion of the officials even if they are wrong sometimes, because there are wrong calls made with the spinner/spinnee rule as well.

I don't think people who did nothing wrong should ever be sent to the rear. I think if someone is driving like an idiot, he shouldn't be able to send the guy in front of him to the rear.

And often with the Spinner/Spinnee rule, the person at fault still goes totally un-punished.

Friday, another driver turned down into me and cut my tire. We obviously got together to cause the cut tire, which means we should have BOTH been held responsible for the caution, which means we BOTH should have restarted at the rear.

The Spinner-Spinnee rule has far more problems that simply trusting the eyes of the officials.

We are not going to let someone take another driver out intentionally. That would be an exception to the rule. There are a lot of saves now that wouldn't have been as second, third, fourth etc. is better than last. We have cars running better lines, giving a little room when they are being passed for the same reason as above. This new policy will require some time to get used to but in time I think most will agree that it is better. Please keep in mind there will still be circumstances that seem unfair and some will probably be so, just like before but overall the racing will likely be better and slightly more fair. If there was any one thing we could do to make all calls perfect every time we would do so. At Spartan everything happens in a blink of an eye and the Officials are watching many cars and this alone makes it too difficult to pin the blame on any one driver. Even in the past most drivers involved shared a percentage of the responsibility but we had to take a stab at which driver was the most at fault(remember, in a blink of an eye).

That explanation makes good sense. Thank you Jim.

I believe this rule is not being enforced the same way in every race. In the sportsman heat race saturday nite 2 cars spun at 2 differant times during the race(the#48 and myself) in my case I went to the back on my own(no one else joined me by the way) and in the #48 case two other cars were damaged in that wreck and everyone kept their position when the race restarted(#48 retired in the pits). So explain how this rule is helping anyone when it is only being enforced when someone feels the need and not on a regular basis.

Thanks Matt

Dear Marq,
I hope this helps you get your point understood. I would be happy to edit a post for you if you want me to.

I saw the 51 pure stock and the 77 pure stock racing in the feature and I saw the 51 push the 77 into turn 3. The 77 got loose and got side ways. He corrected the car and then got hit in the side by the 51 and the 51 spun out. They sent the 77 and 51 to the back and the 77 did nothing wrong! I don’t get that!

Yes I know it takes any judgment call away from the officials but it is stupid when a guy minding his own business and gets taken out and Then he get punished for someone else’s mistake.

I've raced for 8 years now and this is the way the GLSS ran the show if some one hit another driver and spins them out they go to the back no matter what and the person that got spun get his or her spot back.

That teaches the drivers to not go and run into someone. That’s what Spartan and Springport needs because we all know that we aren't professionals we do this out of our pocket a lot of the time and we do not have big sponsors so we pay for it if something happens.

That is my opinion!!!!!

From where I sat it looked like the #77 was really loose all night. I did not see the call you are referring to.

Mike,
I have have seen many rules designed to deal with blame in a yellow flag situation. None of them have been the magic bullet. The current rule keeps the situation objective. Everybody involved going to the rear stops any appearance of bias toward one driver or another. I also believe that obvious rough driving yellows should only penalize the rough driver.

I'd like to see rough drivers get black flags before it turns into a yellow...

I'd also like to see drivers get black flagged for running guys into the grass on the straightaway when they are being passed.
