i have a suggestion for 2009
this year i mist a couple of races at springport and like racing there but with the way you guy and {girls} are running the points with no droped races it makes it hard to make up points on the other racers.
what am suggesting is letting the racers a couple drops.
now if a racer runs all the races all year for a bounis or something they get like 25 bounis points or something like that
what you guys are trying to do relly hard on the racers like if you have a bad race or you break dring a race it kill you in the points and it hard to make them points back up
so that is my suggestion
thanks marq |

Marq,
What you are suggesting has been done in the past. In fact this was done last year at Springport (and Spartan also, I think) where a driver's two worst point nights were dropped.
There are a lot of pros and cons to this, and I am sure a lot of folks will chime in. As for me, I am fine with it either way. |

| that is a very good idea. there are alot of pros, i can't think of many cons. when we raced gokarts it was a 12 race season with 4 throw outs. so if something happened and you have a couple dnf's it doesn't ruin your whole season. if you make and finish every race, there is no need for a bonus. the fact that you can now take a couple of your wost finishes and throw them out is a bonus. along with that, i wish we would the points the way nascar does it, but instead of a 10 race chase, make it a 5. how many times in the past has a driver wrapped up the championship half way through the season? having a "chase for the cup" at our level would really help the guy who maybe wasn't doing so good at the first half of the season, but really has things figured out for the last half. |

I personally don't like it when nights get thrown out. To win a championship that takes dedication. If you can't be there every night or you have a couple of bad nights, sorry. I believe if they didn't throw out two nights last year that Dave Stehouwer would've won the SLM championship and not Doug Finley.
Three rules I HATE in racing are spiner/spinee, feature winner from week before starts behind the invert and throwing out bad point weeks.
As for a chase at the local level, K-Zoo did that about 3 years ago. They only did it for one year. I'm not a big fan of the chase, again the championship should be won over the course of the season not just selected events. _________________ Keith

There would be nothing to gain from that. The leader in the points would get even more points and those who miss one night would be even further behind.

And the one thing that no one else thinks of, is that it is a scoring nightmare.
It increases Jim Barker's task ten fold, when he hardly has enough time as it is. He was thrilled when we went back to the regular system. |
