|
|
It was pointed out to me recently that the Pure Stock rules state "American Made" RWD V-8 or FWD V-6.
Why is that in the rules ?
First -- I'm not even sure what "American Made" means... is a Mazda M6 manufactured in Flat Rock American Made ? How about Toyota Camry made in Kentucky ?? For that matter.. Is a Dodge Intrepid an "American Car"; an American nameplate owned by a German Company and manufactured in Canada; is that "American Made" ???
Secondly -- Non-Big 3 Brands make up nearly 50% of all the cars sold in the U.S. and the Wards Best Engine List for the last 10 years includes only 6 Tradional American V-6 engines, while Nissan, Toyota, Mazda, VW, Saab and Honda list 26.
Thirdly -- Who even cares ? Toyota is running NASCAR Nextel Cup next year, they won the truck championship this year. Honda mades all the IRL engines. Circle Track racing is expanding in Mexico and Canada.. NASCAR is considering a South American tour into Brazil.
Isn't it time that "American Made" gets dropped from the rules. |

Boy O boy Rick, You sure like to start fights. If this was some where other than the home state for the Big 3 automakers, you might have a chance. But when most of the people who live in Lansing have something to do with the auto industry I think you are pointing out the wrong things. Let keep in mind all the auto workers that have been employed in Michigan and all the money that has changed hands from one autoworker to another. If it wasn’t for the Big3 in Michigan, This state would still be full of saw mills and people making $12 an hour. Sure some companies have questionable ownership. It really doesn’t matter because the workers still cash the paychecks here. Then the workers spend the money here for Gas, food, Auto parts, Colleges, Quarter midgets, Propane, Computers, Radios, Get the point?? Be loyal to the companies that put the food on the table, if you don’t, You lose the right to complain when wal-mart runs your shop out of business.
