Hello everyone, I would like to take a minuet and thank Wayne Haughton & his crew for visiting Delaware Speedway sept 26, and extend an open invite to all modified competitors to come and visit. Delaware Speedway has a couple of invitationals a year, and although your cars dont completly comply to our rules we will work with you at making your cars as close as possible. Wayne had a top 5 finish in hand before a spin took him out of contention. Again great seeing you guy's, hope to see you again.

Delaware speedway is a good track, I raced there in the CASCAR series back in around 1989-90.

Lots of interesting idea's on rules in some of the early posts, and some crate motor concerns. Delaware Speedway added the crate motor rule to all its divisions as an economical alternative BUT didn't want to alianate the racers with built engines, so we developed a weight handicap based on engine packages ie;
GM 604 crate 4bbl 2675lbs with a 6400 rpm chip
GM 602 crate 4bbl 2500lbs with a 6400 rpm chip
FORD D347 crate 4bbl 2675lbs with a 6400 rpm chip
BUILT max500 lift 4bbl 2700lbs with a 6400 rpm chip
BUILT max10.5/1 2bbl 2675lbs with a 7000 rpm chip

ALL of these combinations have won races, our current MOD track record is 18.899 on the 1/2 mile.
Delaware' uses Hoosier 980's, with a 1 tire per night rule, shock rule is steel $150 retail, and the weekly winner takes home $650.

We feel these are some pretty good compromises and give the racer plenty of options regarding power plants.
As you all know the sealing bolts are available,so for engine tech, we cube and whistle most every night, AND have had heads off crate engines.

Hey tricknology, by chance did you win a championship in that erra?
