Ed Inloes comes home to Auto City Speedway.

Clio, Michigan (Friday, November 21, 2008): In the early 1970's, you could find Montrose, Michigan native, Ed Inloes walking through the grandstands at Auto City Speedway, selling Popcorn and Coca-Cola to make some extra money.

Fast forward 35 years later as Inloes, who now resides in Grand Blanc, Michigan, will be coming back home, only this time, as the Co-Announcer of the Clio, Michigan speed plant along-side long time, award-winning Announcer, Larry Loynes.

"I have always wanted to make Ed part of our team here for a long time," Remarked Auto City Owner / Promoter, Joe DeWitte. "I was very impressed with the work he did at Owosso Speedway early in his career, and I never forgot that.” DeWitte then added; “His dedication and loyalty to the sport, and the facility he works for, is second to none, and is exactly what I want here at Auto City."

As Co-Announcer, the 45-year-old Inloes, who will begin his Ninth season as an Announcer in 2009, will work hand in hand with Loynes, a 17-year veteran, in calling the racing action. He’ll also lend a hand up in the tower assisting the scorers with keeping the line-ups correct, and the show moving along.

"Ed will bring an added sense of enthusiasm for our fans, and a style that seems to be all his own,” Continued DeWitte. “He is a race fan at heart, and has a love and passion for the sport that is almost unmatched. He cares about the sport, and all of those involved in it. He can communicate what is happening on the track to all the fans in such a way that even the first time race fans will understand." When asked about the fact of having Two announcers, DeWitte excitedly exclaimed, "I had a chance to get what I feel are the two very best Announcers in the State of Michigan at my facility, I just had to go for it!"

Inloes and Loynes are no strangers to each other as they’ve served as co-hosts of the popular local radio show, “Race Talk” for almost three years. The two Flint-area natives are very good friends, and are very excited about the opportunity to work together on Saturdays as well. "I really think the fans are in for quite a treat. Ed and I have a ton of fun doing the radio show, and this can only get better.” Loynes said. “Neither of us have a big ego to be fed, and only want to have some fun with the crowd, and bring an informative, fun filled show to all the fans." He added.

Inloes grew up Four miles from Auto City and actually got his first taste of being behind the microphone in 1990 when he was the analyst for the late Greg Yost, broadcasting live racing events from the track on local radio stations for one season. After that year, Inloes went back to the role of a race fan until he was given an opportunity by Bob Appleget to become a Contributor and Columnist for the Murphy, North Carolina based racing newspaper, Late Model Digest in 1998. Inloes traveled to many different tracks covering races for the now defunct Iceman Super Car Series, the American Speed Association, and several other prestigious events throughout the Midwest from 1998-2000. In 2001, Inloes’ Announcing career officially began as he was hired, along-with another good friend and veteran Announcer, Matt Prieur, at the Owosso Speedway, and the two gentlemen enjoyed great success as a very popular announcing tandem during the 2001 and 2002 seasons at the Ovid, Michigan speed plant. Prior to the start of the 2003 campaign, Inloes was offered the Announcing position at Spartan and Springport Motor Speedways by Promoter, Jim Leasure, and he accepted those dual roles and since then has continued his growth in his craft. While he’ll continue to be the Announcer at Spartan on Friday nights for Leasure in 2009 for the Seventh consecutive season, the sale of Springport this past summer left his Saturday nights open, and DeWitte wasted no time filling that void for him.

An appreciative Inloes, who called the action at Springport for Five seasons between 2004-2008 prior to the move to Auto City, stated; “I’m so flattered to be offered this position. To be asked to Co-Announce with someone like Larry is a true honor to me. He has won the Tom Carnagie Announcer of the Year award, and many, many others, and is very capable of doing this all by himself, as he has proven over the last 17 years.” Inloes then continued; “To have Joe and Larry, both wanting me to be part of this team is a dream come true for me. I can remember selling Marc Times Racing News as a kid, listening to every word the Announcer spoke, and dreamed of a day that the Announcer could be me. Dreams do come true!" He ended.

Auto City Speedway, located in Clio, Michigan, just north of Flint, has been in operation since 1955 and was operated as a dirt track up through the 1986 season. It was then paved and now contains a beautiful 1/2 mile asphalt oval along with a 1/4 mile asphalt oval on the inside which shares the front straightaway with the 1/2 mile. In 2008, a Figure 8 course was paved inside the 1/4 mile oval. There is also a paved road course which is made up of the existing ovals and a short connector on the back stretch. The Saturday night schedule for the 2009 racing season consists of Super Late Models, Super Stocks, Modifieds, Street Stocks, Led Sleds, Hornets, and Figure 8's, along with School Bus Figure 8 racing and various other traveling series.

I wish you the best of luck Ed!!!!

I was happy to have you as my announcer this past season, especially when I got my wins and you interviewed me.

You and Shawn always got the crowd into the racing action. You have the gift.

I hope to have you interview me again in 2009 at Spartan and hopefully at Auto City if we are allowed to run there at an invite.

You will be missed at Springport but I am sure the fans at Auto City will enjoy you too.

Enjoy the shorter drive and get the crowd waving there too........
