Just found this out and thought I'd pass it along to everyone competing in the Pure Stock division next year.

The Pure Stocks is a growing class with the intentions of eventually splitting it up into two different classes, one for rear wheel drive and one for front wheel drive.

For the time being, both types of cars will race together. That's nothing new, it was done that way in 2006. However, there's a slight twist for 2007.

FWD cars will run their own heat race(s) and RWD cars will run their own as well.

In the Pure Stock feature, both FWD and RWD will race together, however, there will be two winners with two separate points championships. If the highest finishing FWD car comes in 4th, he will be the winner of the FWD feature that evening and will go to the infield along with the RWD winner for feature winner photos.

Points will be awarded as if it were two separate classes, however the pay will be as if it were one class. The FWD car mentioned above will collect 4th place money but will get 1st place points. If there are 6 FWD cars in the feature, the lowest finishing one will get 6th place points.

Qualifying will line up for the feature as if it were one class.

When the day comes that there are enough of each type of car, it will be very easy to split the two classes up. It can even be done partway through the season without any complications due to championship points since there are two separate championships.

This method also makes it much easier for someone to decide which type of car to build. For instance, with one championship, if the hot setup is RWD, there would be no point in building a FWD car. Now, it doesn't matter. If you want to build a FWD car, go ahead, because for the points championship, heat wins, and feature wins, your competition will be other FWD cars, not the RWD cars.

It doesn't say in the rules but is the Pure Stock class running stock wheels or racing wheels? Just thought you may wanna get that out there.
