The rule book shows that we are qualifying in 8(max) car sessions.
We did individual qualifying last year !
Could someone in Management Please tell us how it will be handled this year ?
Thanks,

| chuck, at the rules meeting they said it was going to be group qualifying like it was at the beginning of the season last year, best time out of the laps you run in the group. |

We talked very briefly about this last Saturday at Jim's office and decided to leave that as the rule book states it.
So, that part of the rulebook is correct.

When Gary took over last May, it was changed to a normal type of qualifying. But it's going back to the group qualifying again for 2007.
There are some that hate it, but a lot of drivers seem to like the group qualifying. They say they can get a better lap time for various reasons. I know some get better times once their tires come up to temperature. Some can do better if they are pacing themselves behind another car.
Even those who qualify very well with a normal one or two lap type qualifying will get a good lap during a group qualifying session. Overall, it really helps to keep anyone from the possibility of getting hit by the breakout rule later on in the evening.

I was one of the ones that voted for single car qualifying last year, but I must say that I found that I do like the group qualifying better. It helps the show move along.
Speaking of keeping the show moving along...please don't bring back that hot dog shooter! Also, I know the kids love it, but bringing them onto the track for activities (other than Autograph Night) costs us valuable time at the end. But now I'm starting to get into another thread altogether! _________________ Don't Sing It, Just Bring It!

I liked the group qualifying. It was like a mini heat race to me. I turned some of my fastest qualifying times running with other cars. Some people run faster with other cars on the track, some slower. Another good thing about group qualifying is that its quicker, your not sitting there in the hot sun waiting.

| Group qualifying....hate it, always have, always will. But there are much worse things in the world. At least we have qualifying (which we wouldn't have if the tracks weren't there). The point is we must take the good with the bad and all be team players in making our sport thrive. |

I'd have to say I agree with ya Chris, but as Pa Ward stated he turned some of his fastest times because it was like a little mini heat race. That's what Doc says too. When we first started it I felt just like you do. Who wants to get their car tore up in qualifying? I know I sure don't, and nobody else does for that matter, but in all actuality you can tear it up just as bad qualifying by yourself. _________________ Don't Sing It, Just Bring It!

Ms. T2,
You are correct, you can tear it up just as badly alone as with others.
I just want to go racing!
have a good day,
