Correct me if i'm wrong!

If i'm reading the points structure correctly if you miss "1" night of racing you have NO CHANCE of catching up for a shot at winning the Championship?

I understand rewarding those who show up on a regular basis, but the system DOESN'T allow ANY room for even 1 night off!

If you do or are planning on missing even 1 night, there's no since in paying the money to run for points, because you have NO chance of finishing any better than 5th in points even if you Win EVERY race your there for!

Registration for Spartan Stock = 40.00
5th place in points = 175.00
18th place in points = 100.00
10 tires with a 5.00 rebate = 50.00

income (5th) 225.00
expense 40.00

income (18th) 150.00
registration 40.00

??????

A driver does not have to pay a registration fee to race. They do need to complete a registration form but if they are racing once in a while we are happy to see them when they do. We don't care if they run for points. Couldn't care less.

This is all documented in the rules and have been for two or three years. Nothing has changed "except" the tire rebate if you are a registered driver and run more than half of the shows completed.

We have made this pretty painless. Very few rules, register if you want. Don't if you don't want to. Good for the driver that wants to race every week for points and good for the occasional or traveling driver.

We are just trying to put on a good show.

I Didn't see the part about points payout and tire rebate~Thanks!

The money issue aside ~ running to win a "Championship" is what i was refering to!

What i was looking at is the points structure~this is the First year of this class and the points are far different than any other class I've run at Spartan!

If they were the same as the Mods, Late models, or the old Sportsman and/or Street stock classes you could take a night off or wreck/break one night and still have a chance at being the "Champion" at the end of the year!

With the current system Misty Allen, Damon Place, or Thomas Dumbauld are the Only 3 drivers that can win the championship this year!

To use Darrell Taylor as an example ~ with 13 races left in the year he would have to gain 96 points on Misty and Damon to win the championship. That works out to about 7.5 points a night ~ in order to do that Darrell would have to Win every Heat And Feature the rest of the year with Damon and Misty finishing no better than 5th in every heat and feature the rest of the year!

I'm bringing this to peoples attention in HOPE that you could look at the System and Possibly make changes to Promote MORE drivers to WANT to run for points!

From the tracks view point the Less drivers running for points the Less you have to Payout for the points fund which saves you money. On the other hand, the More drivers that run for points the More they Want to be there EVERY week! This equates to More money for the track in Many areas such as reg fees, pit passes, fuel, tires, food, and friends and family in the stands cheering for their driver! Not to mention the More cars in our class Weekly the Better show we put on for the crowd!

Sure seams like you'd Want/Care if All the drivers were running for points! IMHO!

Chuck,

There have been only two races. 2011 is pretty young.

As a matter of fact any driver in any division that has a perfect year will likely win their championship as well. As long as they don't have flats, get tangled up, avoid any mechanical issues and don't miss any nights. Nothing to it Very Happy They just need to be close to perfect for all of their races, and also be lucky.

The reason we call them the Champion is because they have made such a commitment. They have usually made sacrafices and worked hard to earn their title as Champion. That is also why the Champion's Hood is so cool, because it signifies accomplishment.

If this division grows the way I think it might we will we will convert it to the Championship Showdown system in the reasonably near future.
