We are trying to get this Neon done, which will be driven by friends and family,,,tire rules are stock 195/70 series tires.
Pep Boys has 195/70/ 14 Cornell 1000 tires with a 300 UTQG wear rating for about $260 (4). No other tire even comes close to 300 wear rating in that size,,,GT GT Champiros are 360 and everthing else is over 400.
but i will need to get them shaved,so they don't chunck the RF.
where and who does tire shaving??
Thanks Arnold. |

I don't have experience with those tires, but I can say that the treadwear rating has no direct relationship to grip or how they act when they get to heating up.

Arnold, I own a tire shaver and my son ( Todd Metz Jr, ) has become very good at shaving tires with it. If you are coming to the Harvest, look him up ( # 79 Neon ) and he can hook you up. I have to work and won't be able to be there. The GT Champero's are the one's that I believe Wayne Beckner Jr is running on his # 47 neon and seems to like them.
