Heartbreak at Rockford after multiple runs towards the front for 19-year-old Chad Finley

DeWitt, Michigan (Wednesday, August 3rd, 2011): The JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by GM Performance Parts has proved after six events of the 11 scheduled that some of the best drivers in the country are vying for the win on any given night. The competition in the inaugural season for the Salem, Indiana based series is some of the fiercest seen in recent memory and Chad Finley is right in the middle of it all.

The fast 0.292 mile high-banked paved oval of Rockford Speedway in Loves Park, Illinois was the site for the next JEGS/CRA/GM race on July 30th for the running of the Stanley Steemer 100 Presented by JEGS.com is up next. Prior to this event, Finley has raced at the historic Prairie State oval before in the now defunct ASA Late Model Series and had hoped his experience there from back in the 2007 racing season will carry over four years later.

The experience at the historic Prairie State oval paid off for Finley who qualified fourth quick out of 23 cars. After an inversion draw of an eight, he would start the 100-lap main from the inside of the third row next to former event winner and long-time NASCAR Camping World Truck Series veteran, Rich Bickle Jr. The two drivers battled tooth and nail as they worked their way up to second and third respectively.

Just past the halfway point, a tire went down on Finley’s #42 Auto Value Parts Stores Ford and he was forced to pit. On the restart, Finley made an impressive charge back up through the field and was battling with hometown favorite, Ryan Carlson for third when on lap 81, his power plant let go ending the night earlier than planned for the DeWitt, Michigan driver.

“This has to be the toughest and most hard fought day of my career,” Exclaimed Finley. “We lost the power steering and then the helmet blower went out 20 laps in. I really thought that we toughed it out and got up to second before the flat. After we pitted, we did the best we possibly could to get back up towards the front and after we got by Ryan (Carlson) for third, I began focusing on second place when the motor got hot and let go.”

“Definitely a heartbreaker for sure,” He continued. “But only the strong survive and we will be back. I’ve got to thank everyone on the crew. It was a hot day and night and we all worked really hard and had a great
race car. Man what a bummer. But we’ll be back and we’re heading to Winchester, so we’re right back at it in the shop and we’ll be ready for the high-banks.” Finley ended.

As the Salem, Indiana based series takes a couple of weekends off to regroup for the stretch run to close out the remainder of the 2011 racing season, Finley slipped to third in the season long points chase as he is 65 markers back of current points leader, Eddie Hoffman and only 20 points behind Erik Jones (585-540-520).

Finley’s No. 42 Howe Racing Enterprises chassis with a Ford Fusion body and a crate motor from Phil Harper Motorsports carries sponsorship from; Rain Eater Wiper Blades, as well as AutoParts2020.com, Auto Value / Bumper to Bumper Parts Stores & Certified Service Centers, Airlift Company, Joe Gibbs Driven Racing Oil, NorthsideTowing.net, and M.P.H. Promotions.

As for the remainder of the 2011 racing season, the next scheduled start for Finley in the NASCAR Nationwide Series is on Saturday, September 17th at the 1.5 mile high-banked d-shaped paved oval of Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet, Illinois in the running of the Dollar General 300 Presented by Coca-Cola. The race will be televised LIVE on ESPN2 at 3:30p.m. His #25 Team Rensi Motorsports Ford will have sponsorship decals from; Auto Value / Bumper to Bumper Parts Stores & Certified Service Centers as well as the Airlift Company, Rain Eater Wiper Blades, and AutoParts2020.com.
