Chad Finley; Heading Back “Home” To Owosso Speedway In Search of JEGS/CRA Win #2

DeWitt, Michigan (Thursday, August 30th, 2012): If there’s one track on the 2012 JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance that can be considered a “home track” for Chad Finley, it’s the next one on the schedule. Located 20 minutes northeast of the DeWitt, Michigan based Chad Finley Racing shop lies the fast 3/8s (0.375) mile high-banked paved oval of Owosso Speedway in Ovid, Michigan.

The historic Central Michigan speed plant will host race #12 for JEGS/CRA on Saturday, September 1st for the running of the Big “O” Classic 100 Presented by JEGS.com. In this race a year ago, Finley dominated the first 72 laps before a red flag came out due to the lights going out at the track. While under the red flag, a right front tire went down on his machine forcing Finley to pit. With only 28 laps remaining, Finley roared through the pack to finish on the podium third.

“Owosso Speedway is a place I really want to win. We dominated last year and unfortunately when the tire went down we were forced to pit.” Finley offered as he and the CFR Team continue preparations for Owosso. “It was a lot of fun to drive back through the field, just unreal how fast things can get away from you. We have been doing some testing over there recently and I feel like we have made the car stronger than it was last year and I believe in this race team and know we will have a very fast Ford come Saturday Night.” He added.

In the last JEGS/CRA, CFR and new Crew Chief, Derrick Griffin made their first appearance together on Thursday, August 16th at the 7/16 (0.437) mile semi-banked paved oval of Auto City Speedway in Clio, Michigan. After Qualifying second quick over the 29-car field, the inversion draw for the BRAD 100 Presented by JEGS.com would be the minimum of a three, which placed Finley on the outside of the front row. He wasted no time in jumping out to the early lead and would pace the field for the first 27 laps.

“We had a good race car at the beginning and we checked out on the field the first part of the race.” He continued. “Then our stagger opened up a bit, which made it tough to maintain track position. The brakes got real hot also and we had to deal with that. It was a good outing for our first time out with Derrick. He had no notes to go off from so he basically started from scratch. Can’t thank him and all my guys enough. It was a lot of fun.” He added.

In the end, Finley would hang on to finish sixth and in the process move into a tie for fourth in the JEGS/CRA points standings. 11 races into the JEGS/CRA season, Finley has recorded one event win, the first of his career in CRA, which came back on May 26th in the CoughlinCars.com 100 Presented by JEGS.com at Columbus Motor Speedway in Columbus, Ohio. His win is part of his three top fives and six top 10 showings. He also has one Fast Qualifier Award, which came at Lucas Oil Raceway in Clermont, Indiana on July 26th.

Finley remains one of the all-time leaders in most statistical categories in the second year JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour as he is currently third all-time in career top fives, second all-time for the most career top 10 finishes, fourth all-time in career laps led, tied for third all-time in career appearances, and third all-time in career laps completed.

Finley’s CRA cars with the black paint scheme and familiar #42 will carry sponsorship support on each Ford Fusion from; Auto Value Parts Stores & Certified Service Centers, as well as AutoParts2020.com, XLT Engineering, NorthsideTowing.net, Rain Eater Wiper Blades, JEGS.com, Nalett Trucking, Howe Racing Enterprises, The Air Lift Company, Joe Gibbs Driven Racing Oil, Memphis Wood Fire Grills, Staubli Products, QuicShine99, Hyperco, Maurer’s Textiles, Superior Racing Images, & M.P.H. Promotions.
