Last year, I ran a total of 5 races at Spartan( got a late start) and it was my first year racing. Im assuming I was a rookie till my 5th race. Now, i didnt get to race at springport at all. Will I be in contention for "rookie of the year" at Springport this year since ive never raced there before?

Unfortunately, once you've competed in 5 races, you are no longer a rookie at either track.

Last year, in one of the other classes, we thought we had the rookie of the year already decided prior to the banquet. But after a little research, we had discovered the driver had raced in the same type of class at another track in another state the previous year. So, someone else was awarded rookie of the year.

Moving "up" to a class that you have never raced in before makes you a rookie. Moving "down" a class does not make you a rookie.

I don't like using the term "moving down" because they are all good professional classes as far as I'm concerned, but you know what I mean.
