Tim,
Richie still lives in leslie, and works for the city. I saw him at spartan last year during the Charlie Ryan Memorial. I also still see Kim at the track from time to time as well.

Brian,
Thanks for the info. Richie probably wouldnt remember me beekuzz I was a kid at Woodworth Elementary and he was a highschooler. i did love to listen to his reports of the races and i remember he was very proud of his uncle Chuck.
man i sure would like to see Kim Derfee again its been a long many moons. Maybe over 25 years. He was one of my best friends. him and Randy Squires. randy was my bestest friend before I moved to the west side of Onondaga Twnshp Which put me in Eaton Rapids schools so we drifted apart. It was good to see him racin and nice to talk with him after so many years. He drives the 00 streetstock. Very nice guy.
So Brian, how long have you been in Eaton Rapids? I loved the schools, but didnt care for the town much. The best thing about the town at that time was the food at Hollys Bear Den. that place made the best Swiss Cheese Bacon Burgers ever! wish it was still there.
Lets see some more of those old pics guys. memory lane is alota fun! TIM _________________ nastyboi |

By the way Mr. Place,
I saw that sneaky little post of yours. I hope you looked all the way back to the beginning of this thread. There are many great pix posted by many people.
Also, I'm very glad to hear that you are home an doing better. We were all pullin for ya bro! If you want something to do, you just go get ya a couple RC cars and some friends and a good area for a track and yer racin brutha! kept me busy for hours when i was laid up. Model cars do the trick too. Anyway, you just get better and stay off that darn sled!

Great photos guys!! I've been out of town or I would have posted earlier. Tim- you mentioned Charlie Clark. I talked to him at the 50th aniversary show last July at my table. I was set up with Bill Brown with the photos and old programs. It was great talking to many of the drivers from the past that night. It is unbelievable the interest in the old stuff. Bill and had planned to take turns watching the tables so we could watch the races some that night. When it was all said and done, we were 4 and 5 deep at all the tables most of the night and we finally got to watch about the last 3 or 4 laps of the street stock feature and the pony feature. Getting back to Charlie Clark, was was one of the early members of the "Leslie Gang". Some of the other early members were Charlie Ryan Sr., Bob Craft, and Don Moon.
If anybody wants to see tons of photos from the past, go to Toledo Speedway on March 17 (yes, it's St Patricks day) from 12 to 6 at the speedway's bar and grill. It's the annual Racers reunion and it's FREE!! The are many pictures from all over the state of Michigan and others states. It also gives you a chance to meet and talk to drivers from the past, many of which used to race at Spartan such as Joy Fair and Fran Harden. Thanks Marty Blume |

Marty B...
Why doesn't the Jackson Racing Club have their annual reunion out at Springport this year ?
I realize Springport isn't "Jackson Speedway", but you guys have a great group and it might be cool and make for a good event if you guys had a big reunion at the track.. maybe the same night as the Vintage Modifieds are there.. with Maurice running the show, maybe if there are 5 or 6 old vintage cars still around they could go out on the track and run a 10 lap Retro Race ? |

| I'll do some checking with some of the guys to see if anything can be done. If nothing else, I set up out at Springport a night or two with my albums and older race programs. I have programs from almost evry year at Springport. Thanks Marty |

Didn't they have a Oldtimers night at Springport back in 1997 0r 98?
I think it was around then. I didn't dig through all my stuff to confirm the year.
They had an old indy car take some laps on the track and a bunch of other stuff.
I don't remember if it just an oldtimers night in general or a Jackson Oldtimers night.
Marty let me know what year programs you are missing I have some from every year except the first.
