Lex knows that must of the pony guys know what they are... problem is finding a set is next to impossible and once found they are like pure gold. |

Those 3 cars might have the .91 ratio (57/52 teeth) gears that are used at Spartan Speedway. Those are also sought after, but nowhere near as hard to find as the 1.22 gears. Also, the transaxles that have .91 transfer gears in them usually have the 3.05 ratio (20/61 teeth) ring and pinion. That is also a good ring and pinion to use for Springport, but will put a good car and driver into the rev limiter at Spartan. With a driver that is still learning, it's sometimes not a problem. The more common ring and pinion is the 2.86 (21/60) teeth which is the correct gear to use for Spartan and still works for Springport. But if the car runs Springport only and not Spartan, it should use the 3.05 gear.

Maurice.. If Lex is not changing his gears at all.. then he is probably running the .91's at Springport.
While the 1.06's aren't optimal for Springport, wouldn't he be WAY better off using the 1.06's (which are stock and available EVERYWHERE) until he finds a set of 1.22's ? |

If you want to know what ring/pinion set and which transfer gear set came stock.. this is the best source for the information
http://www.robskorner.org/faqs/Trans/a413trans.html
The old robskorner link doesn't work anymore in the Speed Secrets.. a Mod/Admin might want to update the link.
In fact.. we should probably copy the information and post for archival sakes.. never know who long the new website might be up. |

Yes, I told him I'd give him a set of 1.06's since I've got a few extras and they are very plentiful and not worth much. He didn't want to change them last week, he just wanted to get out to Springport and get his feet wet. This week is different.
