The CARQUEST Racing Series continued at Spartan Speedway, with Leroy Ellis scoring his first MI Army National Guard MI Modified win of the 2005 season on CARQUEST night. Chris Ozanich jumped out to the early lead of the 35-lap feature, with Ellis in tow. Nyle Weiler, Jason Parish, and Dan Loughan were running nose to tail, to round out the top five, with 10 laps in. Bill Luckhurst and Earl Miles began to pick off cars as they began their march to the front from their ninth and fourteenth starting positions. Ozanich ran into the rear of the field, allowing Ellis to catch him on lap 18. Meanwhile, Luckhurst and Miles worked the outside and found themselves in sixth and seventh, respectively, by lap 25. Ellis jumped to the outside of Ozanich in turn two to move into the lead on lap 26. On the restart after a caution on lap 27, Parish took a look under Weiler, as Luckhurst looked to the outside of Loughan for fifth. With Ellis still in the lead, on lap 30, Luckhurst got around Loughan and set his sights on Weiler, while Miles took a look under Loughan on lap 33. At the checker, it was Ellis, Ozanich, Parish, Luckhurst, and Weiler. Heat wins went to Maynard Bigelow Jr., Miles, and Ozanich. Bigelow Jr. won the last chance race with Ron Parish, Bill Butler, and Tracey Heeney earning transfer spots.

Full moon fever struck the Performance Automotive Northwest Street Stocks as few of the cars were spared some sort of cosmetic (or worse) damage. Inexperience caused a huge bottleneck that caught up a number of the front runners, who had quickly run up on the rear of the field. Jamie Feguer grabbed the lead on lap one with Rob Patrick taking away the spot on lap five. Ron Heeney began his drive for the front and challenged Patrick for the lead on lap 11, followed by Scott Sigman, Marc Smith, and Corey Davis. Caution flew on lap 17 for Heeney, and the lead was relinquished to Patrick. Davis and Long got together on lap 19, once again bringing out the caution. On the restart, Sigman barreled around Patrick for first, as Place, Smith, and Dave Thorburn drove their way into the top five. Sigman took the win at lap 25, followed by Patrick, Place, Smith, and Thorburn. Butch Morence and Patrick took heat wins.

The Q106 Pony Stocks lined up for their 20-lap feature, with John Ward showing the way on lap one. Jason Brunn grabbed the lead on lap three and continued to lead through lap seven. Jimmy Scavarda was looking to make it three wide at the line for the lead on lap seven, and made it stick on lap eight. Trei Deubel had made himself a permanent fixture on Scavarda’s rear bumper, trying high and low for a way around Scavarda for first. Deubel jumped to the outside of Scavarda in turn two on lap 12 and they ran side by side for the next three laps. At the line, it was Deubel for the win. Scavarda, George Wyers, Ward, and Bryan Passick II rounded out the top five.

Attrition was the name of the game for the Andrews Chevrolet Super Late Models, as Dave Stehouwer, current point leader, lost an engine after qualifying. Luckily, teammate Garry Duram handed over his ride to Stehouwer for the 40-lap feature. Bob Bauer and Jimmy Gallagher brought the field down to the green, with Gallagher shown as the lap one leader. Bauer, Tom Fedewa, and Chris Place made their move around Gallagher, who found himself shuffled back to fourth by lap three. Caution cam out on lap four, when Evan Barrett got into the back of Gallagher, as both were running in the second groove, collecting Dale Lewis and Tim Ryan. On the restart, it was all Bauer as he led the charge to the green, followed by Fedewa, Place, Gallagher, and Stan Perry. Lap 13 saw Stehouwer up to 10th from his starting position at the rear of the field. Bauer was driving away from the field by lap 15, as Place went to work on Fedewa for second. Perry looked to the outside of Gallagher, who got into Perry, bringing out the caution on lap 19, moving John Ledwidge into the top five, as Gallagher was sent to the rear. Fast qualifier, Jeff Hackworth had worked his way up to sixth by lap 20, but fell off the pace on lap 21. Two cautions on lap 21 and 22 bunched the field up again with Bauer continuing to lead. At the halfway mark, Stehouwer was continuing his march to the front as he went to work on Lee Taylor. Taylor looked for a way around Bill Heeney Jr. on lap 28, with Stehouwer trying to follow Taylor through. Bauer opened up quite a lead over Fedewa by lap 30, but Fedewa kept plugging away and kept pace with him by lap 35. Perry made one last ditch effort to get around Place for third on lap 37, but Place held him off. At the stripe, it was Bauer, Fedewa, Place, Perry, and Ledwidge. Craig Willett and Fedewa were credited with heat wins.
