Tom Fedewa put his Sawyers Superstore Wingless Sprint in the Corrigan Oil Winner’s Circle for the second time, Friday, May 28th, at the Spartan Speedway. Fedewa started at the rear of the field and when the green flag waved, charged to the front on the outside to sit in third by lap two. Heat winner, Dorman Snyder, was able to hold Fedewa off until lap six, while Taylor Ferns was battling with Mike Astraukas for the third spot. Ferns took the spot away on lap nine and went to work on Snyder for second. Fedewa pulled away from the field as Ferns dove under Snyder and into second. Ferns wasn’t able to reel Fedewa in for a shot at her second win, and at the line, it was Fedewa, Ferns. Snyder, Astraukas, and Jim Heeney. Ferns won the Four Car Dash.
Todd Metz Jr. took the A-Main win for the Boss Snow Equipment Pony Stock Division but Rich Roberts was shown as the early leader in the 20-lap feature. Darren Wright and Amanda Blanchard gave chase, but Metz jumped up to the high-side and motored his way into first by lap six. Metz was able to put some daylight between himself and Roberts in second, while Patrick Denison challenged Roberts for second. Denison got around Roberts, bringing Wayne Beckner Jr. with him. Beckner Jr. dove under Denison for second on lap thirteen, but with laps winding down, Beckner wasn’t able to catch Metz Jr. to challenge for the win. At the stripe, it was Metz Jr., Beckner Jr., Denison, Metz Sr., and Wright. Brandon Moody took command when the green flag waved signaling the start of the B-Main. Scott Sparagowski briefly took the lead at lap six, but Moody came back to reclaim the lead. Joe Bates had begun his march through the field and took the lead from Moody at lap 11, while George Garza got around Moody on the very same lap, but couldn’t catch Bates for the win. After 20 laps, it was Bates, Garza, Moody, Sparagowski, and Brad Harbenski. Sparagowski, Roberts and Lex Jarecki took home heat wins.
The Pure Stock division saw Ben Hidy take the early lead, with Kyle Drake, Landon Hidy and Lonnie Saumier in hot pursuit. Saumier dropped to the low side of L. Hidy and spun into the turn four wall. Hidy took his place at the rear of the field, but that was short-lived, as Landon drove to the front to challenge Drake for the lead, when Drake headed straight for the turn two wall and caution waved, handing the lead over to L. Hidy. Hidy took the win over Mark Childers, Mark Carson, Matt Childers and Tony Marshall. Landon also took the heat win for the division.
The MOD 50 for the Valvoline Instant Oil Change Modifieds saw Nate Moon lead 34 of the 50 laps, but Bill Butler ducked under Moon as he got loose and spun to the infield. The lead was handed over to Jim Kennedy, and on the restart, Larry Wallace sat poised to strike, while Travis Eddy and Chris Ozanich worked their way into second and third respectively. Wallace got around Kennedy and checked out on the field as Eddy, Ozanich, Ron Parish and Earl Miles tried to keep him in their sights. At the checkered, it was Wallace, Eddy, Ozanich, Parish and Miles. Ken Buchner and Moon won their heats.
