Hidy Brothers Clean House at Spartan Speedway
The ABC Contractors F8 Extravaganza had 12 Motor City Madmen put on a show for the packed house at Spartan Speedway. Bill Early won the feature event over Randy Cronenwett , Daniel Apperson, Dennis Whisman and Jeremy Miller. Jerry Miller won the heat.
The Capital City Street Stock Figure 8's also were on hand and a small 12-car field allowed for some rare racing room on what is usually a jammed packed track and when all was said and done Jeffrey Cummings took the easy win by half a lap over Jim Gokee , Jerry Atwell, Victor Hitsman and Sean Fish. The Capital City F8's heat race winners were Sean Fish and Jerry Atwell.
The Performance NW Automotive Street Stocks were on hand for double features as Landon Hidy claimed his first victory of the season over brother Ben, Mark Smith, Pat Dent and Bob Flotka. The caution filled event reached its scheduled time limit and Hidy was declared the winner on lap 19. Landon Hidy also won the Lost Tiger Tattoos/ Mr. Gasket Hard Charger award winning from his 15th starting spot.
Ben Hidy was victorious in the Performance NW Automotive Street Stock feature over Pat Dent, Marc Smith, Joe Barnhart in his best ever finish and Rob Newman, subbing for Bob Flotka. Howard McDonough received a speeding ticket in heat race #1 giving the win to Jim Gokee. Dave Bollis and Joe Barnhart won the others. Butch Morence won the RaceFan.com Semi-Feature over Jordan Harvey. Ben Hidy set fast time for the 19-car field. Ben Hidy also won the Lost Tiger Tattoos/ Mr. Gasket Hard Charger award.
The Michigan Auto Value Legends feature had veteran Billy Simmmons taking the win over Levi Rouster, Preston Dahl, Ryan Meldrum and Krissy Kilborn. Rouster got by early leader Dahl on lap 4 and looked to be on his way for the easy win before a late caution on lap 22 for Tom Adis and Ron Semlow. The 4-lap shootout had Simmons sneaking by on the restart for the win as Rouster shadowed him at the line.
A large field of 28 Michigan Auto Value Legends created four heat races with Jerry Warden, Krissy Kilborn, Levi Rouster and Billy Simmons all winners. Tom Adis won the semi-feature over Gene Clark.
This week is the always-popular Schram Auto Salvage spectator drag night at Spartan Speedway with double features for the WIBM AM1450 Modifieds along with the ComCast Super Late Models, Performance NW Street Stocks and the B& L Truck Caps Pony Stocks.
